SHOWTIME: 4-H & FFA SHOWMANSHIP – Friday, November 8 at 9:00 a.m.  4-H & FFA SHOW – Friday, November 8, immediately following Showmanship.

RULES & REGULATIONS

EXHIBITORS IN ALL SHOWS MUST ABIDE BY THE DEPARTMENT RULES AND HEALTH REGULATIONS. THIS INCLUDES GENERAL RULES.

All goats must have certificates of veterinary inspection and a scrapie premise number. Goats that originate in the State of Florida no longer need to be tested for tuberculosis or brucellosis. Goats originating from out of state must have been tested for tuberculosis and brucellosis within 30 days of the opening day of the fair.

  1. All goat shows are sanctioned by American Dairy Goat Association (“ADGA”). The Senior Doe and Junior Doe shows are sanctioned separately. Animals without papers may not be shown. The ADGA rules shall govern. The official registration certificate is required for show animals over six months of age. A duplicate application for registry stamped by the ADGA office is permissible for animals under six months of age. The registration certificate or stamped duplicate application must be available to the show secretary at time of arrival.
  2. Any bona fide 4-H & FFA member may enter dairy goats, provided all requirements are complied with and provided the animals are a credit to the breed. All 4-H & FFA members must have reached their 8th birthday and not have passed their 19th birthday or graduated from high school by September 1 of the current 4-H year; they must be enrolled in a dairy goat project, which is certified by their respective extension agent or FFA advisor. Animals must be shown by the exhibitor, unless there are two animals in the same class. NEW! Vo-Ag or County Extension Agent signature is required.  This show is open to Florida, Georgia, Alabama residents.
  3. VERY IMPORTANTAll entries and lease agreements must be postmarked by October 1st.  Send all entries and lease agreements to the North Florida Fairgrounds.
  4. Goats must be owned and in possession of 4-H & FFA exhibitors or exhibitor’s family at least 60 days prior to the date of the show. (4-H & FFA are limited to eight (8) animals, no more than two in a class) All participants must have taken the livestock ETHICS CLASS.  Ethics # must be on entry form, (See Lease Agreement for Rule).
  5. Available space will be determined by postmark on entry form. Due to space restraints, entries will be on a first come first serve basis.
  6.  Registered and grade dairy goats may be leased.  A copy of the Official Lease Agreement must be submitted with entry by October 1st.  September 1st remains the deadline for possession.  FFA advisors or 4-H agents will be requested to verify the possession period.   7. Lease agreement only applies to youth who do not own goats.
  8. The 4-H & FFA Dairy Goat Record Book is required for participation in the Youth Show contest. Record books will be judged.  First place winners in each class will receive a Rosette.
  9. ENTRY FORMS CAN BE FILLED OUT ON-LINE AND THEN PRINTED. ALL FORMS MUST BE COMPLETE OR THEY WILL NOT BE ACCEPTED.  Information on entry form must reflect certificate of registration (no barn names).
  10. Dept., Div. and Class must be written on entry form.  All incomplete forms will be returned.  If you have any questions about what is acceptable please call the Chairperson or Fair Office.
  11. Entrance to the livestock area will be off Paul Russell Road through Gate 1 on the north side of the Fairgrounds.
  12. Parking in designated areas only. Overnight sleeping will be allowed in the tack pens providing materials are not set up before the barn is closed at 10:30 p.m. No dogs allowed in barn.
  13. All animals must be dehorned.
  14. First bedding will be provided.
  15. Exhibitors must be clean and neat and dressed in white, dark blue or black pants or long skirt with a solid white collared shirt (no tank tops allowed). Closed-toed shoes or boots are required. FFA and 4-H attire will be permitted. Exhibitors not conforming to the dress code will not be allowed to enter the show ring.
  16. All personal items, trash and other debris must be removed from exhibitor’s pens prior to checkout.  Do not empty water buckets in pens.  Failure to comply may result in forfeiture of premium monies.
  17. Area in front of pens must be kept swept and clean at all times.
  18. Exhibitors will require a release form from chairperson before leaving.
  19. Show order is not subject to change.

DIVISION S- 4-H & FFA DAIRY RECORD BOOK CONTEST4-H Dairy Record and Ledger (NFF 4-H & FFA Livestock Record Book) is the official record book for 4-H’ers. Records should be kept and shown for the period of September 1, 2024 through November 1, 2024 and brought with you at check-in. If the animal is less than one year of age on October 1, 2024, records should reflect the time period from the date ownership was assumed to October 1, 2024. FFA participants may use the same publication.

Will be awarded to youth who keep their areas, goats, and alleyways neat and clean while being courteous and informative to other exhibitors and the fair-going public. Exhibitors are encouraged to decorate their areas tastefully.
